Switzerland with the Gabes

Scott and Jaimee loved the trip. Kate stayed in Kaysville with one of Jaimee's aunts.

The New Empty Nesters are busier than ever.
Does John know what he is doing?

This trip was highly rated by all six participants. Joe told Ursula that her Switzerland was a beautiful place to visit but he was glad to have his American Passport in his pocket. He was able to take the whole family on a tour through the Alps for what it cost Gary to get a crown replaced!

Picnic Time with Carlsons

Carla Carlson called last week and invited Ron and me on a picnic. We went down to the new park in Eagle and enjoyed the afternoon together. They are such precious, dear friends.

The Corner--2008

Matt LaButti (one of DAvid's marketeers) came to town last week and did some pruning. We love it!

DFG Family at Newport Beach

We thought you might enjoy some pictures of the gang at Newport Beach. From all reports, it was great fun. We have Saren to thank for the pictures.

Todd Comes for 30th Class Reunion

This is Todd some 30 years ago..
Todd worked all day for Source One and then picked Fred up. He said the Lyons home looked the same as ever. That is Todd, Clint Harmon and Fred Lyons. Fred has the Lyons diabetes.

On Saturday evening the Group from Seminary Met together. Can you believe that Todd took two good pictures in a row? In fact, he looks plain handsome.

Reed Arrives in New York

Reed wrote a long letter with lots of details. He is assigned to Elder Xie, who is from China and is fluent in both English and Mandarin. As Reed writes "I was amazed at his determination to find people." We smiled when we read that by the time Reed struggles with the introduction to people, they have already told him they are not interested.

He helped teach an English class. He wanted to congratulate the class on how well they were learning English and when he said it in what he thought was good Mandarin, they laughed and clapped.

Sunday Dinner at the Hickories

John was in town with his friend Sarah Lacey to attend a mission farewell. They also visited Cascade for some water fun.
Jenn made the strawberry salad. Laurie fixed two kinds of chicken, some corn on the cob and a special hit--fresh peach cake.
Hot rolls are always a hit with Grandpa. He uses them for dinner and dessert. We also served some green beans fresh from the garden.

Joe presided over the affair. He and Laurie just returned from a two week trip back East and after spending a week catching up, they will head to Deer Valley.

Happy Faces

Ultimate in St. George

Todd was the team's only substitue and wished often that he was in better shape!

Todd and his scout troup decided that they would like to participate in the Ultimate frisbee games in St. George. They camped out on Mumford's lawn in Kanaaraville. They requested to play in the bottom league. It turns out there was only one--including two teams from BYU. Todd said they got creamed every game, but that everyone was very kind and helpful. Is using the tongue to concentrate a Gabrielsen trait?

RAndee and Rob--2008

Randee has been visiting in St. George most of the summer. One of their favorite things to do is to be a hostess at the outdoor theater and see the shows free. Another is to go swimming at a friend's complex.

Good Memories

To quote from Denae's letter. "Mika (pronounced Meeka) was our last dog to buy ever. Yoshi needed a friend so badly that we couldn't resist her sweet face. She was born on the twentieth of April and sleeps with us every night."
Kristie Blackhurt and Denae Gabrielsen have been best friends for many years starting at Joy School in Boise.

This is the girls in 2007. Somehow, we all knew they would be gorgeous when they grew up. Denae is a registered nurse and Kristie a Dental Hygenist. (Cleans teeth).

Kristie married Ryan Kemp on March 1st in the Boise Temple. Denae was her maid of honor.

Cavanaughs Visit Peru.

AFter the August earthquake, this is all that is left standing of the home that was built for the missionaries. Jake was one of the first missionaries to live in it and there have been 40 elders since that time.

Jake was able to take this entire group to the best restaurant for $45.00. It was a very touching and rewarding trip for both of them.

In June 2008 Jake and Denae decided to visit Peru and see some of the families with whom Jake had worked. He was in this area called Ica for 14 months. As you can tell, they travelled light and had many fun stories to tell. They flew into the Lima airport from an all night flight and then drove five hours on a bus. They stayed with Hermana Florabell in her home. A sign saying Bienvenidos Famila Cavnaugh. Queremos mucho..meaning Welcome Cavanaugh Family, we love you very much.
